Werregue Ashtray

These decorative bowls are entirely handmade by in Colombia by artisans in the municipality of Guacamayas which is known for its colourful coiled basketry. The baskets are made using the coiled technique, which consists of making a cord from straw that is wrapped with dyed fique threads. This cord is sewn together with a thick needle to shape it in an upwards spiral.
